What does “Sabaidee” mean in Thai?

The word or phrase Sabaidee is actually made up from two words. “Sabai” means to be well, relaxed, happy and at ease, whereas the word “Dee” simply means good. The phrase “Sabaidee” is used as part of the traditional Thai greeting in the following way:

Hello - sa-wat-dee ka (sa-wat-dee krab for a male speaker)

How are you? - sa-bai-dee mais ka? (sa-bai-dee mais krab for a male speaker)

I’m fine - sa-bai-dee ka! (sa-bai-dee krab for a male speaker)

Thank you - kob kun ka (krab)

We sincerely hope you will feel relaxed, happy and at ease here at Sabaidee Thai Restaurant.
